Everchanging Whispers
A downloadable game for Windows and macOS
Created in one week for #screamjam2024.
Warning: This game contains flashing lights that could be strong for photosensitive people.
The Game
This is a horror / roguelike crossover where you will die... quite a few times.
It's designed to generate the levels on every play, and you keep your upgrades between matches so you can go further in the dungeon.
Technically it can have up to 100 levels with scary ghosts everywhere, would love to see someone beat it!
I've put all love and care on this, as very soon I'll be back to my freelance work and will be short on time to make games. I really hope whoever plays this game, enjoys it!
The game jam version was produced in 7 days.
Gameplay:
- Get your health upgrades in the Waiting Room (WASD or arrow to choose, Left mouse click or space / enter to pick a card).
- Flashlight right mouse click
- Open the door to adventure in the procedural dungeon
- It's a roguelike, so if you die, caput
- However, between runs you keep all your health upgrades, so you can go further and explore the dungeon.
- More than 100 levels supported!

Interesting game. I liked the concept and the visual style.
I unfortunately got many bugs: the dialogues in general were being triggered several times by just walking in the waiting room, and sometimes the girl just wasn't there at all. As for the gameplay, it was kinda clunky, especially when trying to avoid the girl in these narrow spaces; I don't quite understand why the flashlight is toggable and set on 'off' when there's no reason to turn it off in the first place. Other than that, solid. Good luck in the jam

Cool art, cool ambiance, interesting roguelike horror idea & neat monster visibility mechanic! But I felt like the monsters' routine was too hard to circumvent, sometimes I really had no escape or way to get the cards without being seen.
